SB Performance cards

The following information pertains to the Ridden Section of the Standardbred Show Ring only.  If you are competing in other RAS Sections (eg. Park Hack, Hack, Riding Horse etc) you will need to refer to the RAS website for further information.

When a Standardbred begins it's show career under saddle it holds the status of "Novice".  All Novice horses are required to be shown in a single bridle with snaffle bit and all riders of Novice Standardbred's are required to carry a Standardbred Performance Card (SB Performance Card) at all RAS A + P shows.  This card records all wins (with you or previous owners) in the following sections;
  • Conformation
  • Paced and/or Mannered

NOVICE
When a horse has received 6 conformation wins under "Novice" status, the horse then becomes "Open" and can no longer compete in "Novice" classes.

Conformation wins are defined as any of the following;
  • Novice
  • Open
  • Lady's Standardbred
  • Gentleman's Standardbred

PACED + MANNERED
When a horse has received 6 wins under "Novice" status, the horse then becomes  "Open" and can no longer compete in the "Novice Paced and/or Mannered" classes.

Paced + Mannered wins are defined as any of the following;
  • Novice Paced and/or Mannered
  • Open Paced and/or Mannered

IMPORTANT!
  • It is important that you ensure that the steward has your cards at every RAS show to record wins - this is your responsibility as a competitor.
  • If your horse holds "Open" status in both of the above categories you do not need a SB Performance Card and you must NOT enter Novice Classes.
  • If you are entering a show that stipulates height classes you must carry a RAS Height Certificate.  You will also need to carry your SB Performance Card if you are still Novice status.
  • If you are competing in RAS sections ie - Hack, Park hack, Riding horse etc, your wins will be recorded on your RAS Height/Performance card, NOT your SB Performance Card. These are two separate documents, used for two separate showing sections and do not cross over.
  • Shows retain the right to refuse a competitor entry to a class if a SB Performance Card is not presented.
  • We are currently working on a system to record these wins however, at this time we are relying on your honesty to ensure that the horse's status remains correct.
